First championships

In 1944 until 1957 some neighborhood leagues formed by several teams from different neighborhoods and parishes of the capital of Ecuador are played in Quito.  In 1957, after 13 years of the practice of Ecuavoley in Quito without any kind of order, it was decided to found LA FEDERACION DE LIGAS BARRIALES Y PARROQUIALES DEL CANTON QUITO, in order to try to create a structure and order for the practice of this sport.  The following year, in 1958, the Ecuavoley champions championship was inaugurated, to try to give more space to a modality that was still in the process of growth and maturation.  Two years later, in Quito, they began to organize championships of different sports such as football or basketball.  Taking advantage of the occasion, one championship of ecuavoley was also organized to try, successfully, to promote the practice of a sport with a national seal.  These championships were successfully organized and developed for 10 years, from 1960 to 1970. In 1971, the FEDENALIGAS was created as a result of the UNION OF LA FEDERACION DE LIGAS BARRIALES DE QUITO AND THE LA FEDERACION DE LIGAS DE NOVATOS DEL GUAYAS.  In that year is also created, LA ASOCIACION DE CLUBES Y LIGAS BARRIALES DE IMBABURA. In addition, the first Ecuavoley championships are inaugurated in Ibarra, where 26 teams compete. TAKEN FROM Historia de Ecuavoley by L. Moreno Cañar.
